What is a postpartum doula?
A mother, sister, and best friend, all in one!
Every new mother and father could use an extra pair of hands.
The time after a baby is born is sometimes called the 4th trimester. Without support, a long anticipated transition can be very stressful, confusing and exhausting. At such a vulnerable time, an optimal start contributes to the health and well being of families.
A postpartum doula is trained to help with:
breastfeeding and infant feeding
nurturing families with more than one infant or child
new mother care and new baby care
integrating the birth experience
emotional transitions of the new family
comforting touch for new mothers
resources for postpartum mood and anxiety disorders
help finding community resources
** For the health of all parties, with the current situation of the Coronavirus, in-person care has been suspended until it is safe to do so. Consider a Zoom meeting to answer your questions and to receive support. I have lots of resources to share!
**If you are a family member or a friend that lives too far away to help out, consider a gift certificate for the services of a postpartum doula.
