What is a postpartum doula?

A mother, sister, and best friend, all in one!

Every new mother and father could use an extra pair of hands.

The time after a baby is born is sometimes called the 4th trimester. Without support, a long anticipated transition can be very stressful, confusing and exhausting. At such a vulnerable time, an optimal start contributes to the health and well being of families.

A postpartum doula is trained to help with:

  • breastfeeding and infant feeding

  • nurturing families with more than one infant or child

  • new mother care and new baby care

  • integrating the birth experience

  • emotional transitions of the new family

  • comforting touch for new mothers

  • resources for postpartum mood and anxiety disorders

  • help finding community resources

** For the health of all parties, with the current situation of the Coronavirus, in-person care has been suspended until it is safe to do so. Consider a Zoom meeting to answer your questions and to receive support. I have lots of resources to share!

**If you are a family member or a friend that lives too far away to help out, consider a gift certificate for the services of a postpartum doula.
